Have you ever read a self-help book? Perhaps to get out of depression and be more happy?

You must have seen one thing, none of those tips work. They tell you to use positive thinking, but you think that it just doesn’t work for you, and you were never cut out for a good life, and you deserve this misery!

What if I told you, that there was one book that could change your life? I’m not lying, this book has been in production ever since 1960, and it has touched over 30 million readers.

The book — Psycho Cybernetics is a book that can make miracles come to reality, and give you a comeback nobody could have ever imagined.

If you’re reading this blog, then you most likely are unhappy with the current state of your life, indulge in negative behavioural patterns, are depressed — somewhat suicidal, and want to change your image. Let me tell you something, I was exactly like you, but if I can pull it off, so can you!

I’ve used humour to mask my depression in public — school and social gatherings… I have used self-deprecating humour that caused my reputation to plummet. But I decided I wanted to change, and here I am. Let me tell you the most important thing you need to remember: you can change, and you don’t need to worry about people, as people are too busy with their own lives; you need to slowly change. For example, start by using less self-deprecating humour, then make it even less, and in a month or so, just completely stop — people won’t notice!

But let’s talk about the book I credit most of my life’s success to — Psycho Cybernetics written by Maxwell Maltz. This book is truly monumental; it breaks the boundaries of possibilities; I’m sure that this book will truly change your life, just like it did with mine.

Psycho Cybernetics suggests that your current misery is not due to external factors, but due to your negative thought patterns. We act accordingly with our self-image, even if we haven’t consciously acknowledged or made our self-image — all of our actions, behaviours, and thoughts always align with our self-image.

This book tells us that we only believe that we cannot do something. For example, an F student only believes that he is a failure and cannot do Maths, but if he changes that false belief and inherently changes his self-image, he becomes an A+ student.

It suggests that our mind is not one, and our subconscious mind is not a mind at all and instead is a servo mechanism or an automatic guidance system. You are not a machine, but your mind works like one. This servo mechanism or automatic guidance system automatically propels you to your destination, to your waypoint, to your belief, and thus, you automatically, without any thought, take action to get a desired outcome. If you feed this servo mechanism with positive beliefs about yourself, it works as a successful mechanism, and if you feed this mechanism negative beliefs about yourself, it just as faithfully works as a failure mechanism.

That’s why it’s very important to consciously practice and create an ideal self-image where you only think of yourself as a positive and successful figure. That’s why positive thinking doesn’t work until you change your self-image or how you see yourself. Self-hate and depression cause a chain reaction of negative outcomes.

But don’t worry, you can change this, you can always change your self-image and lead a better life. It’s never too late to start changing and start taking charge of your life.
